Every time I go to a restaurant now, the server calls everyone 'boss' or 'chief'.

By @fayehm · Hot Takes

I was out with my family for my birthday, and the young man serving us must have called me 'boss' a half dozen times. I know it's supposed to be friendly, but it feels so strangely informal and even a little condescending.

The full story

I don't expect a red carpet, but whatever happened to 'sir' or just... nothing? 'Boss' feels like something you'd say at a construction site in the 70s. My son says I'm overthinking it and it's just how people talk now. I think it's a bizarre trend, and it makes me feel old and out of place. It's not a huge deal, but it really grates on me. I didn't say anything, of course, but I can't be the only one who finds this weird.
