Kids today will never know the stress of burning a perfect CD.
By @brynny · Nostalgia
You had 74 minutes of space, a stack of blank Memorex discs, and one shot to get the track order right for your crush. There was no undo button.
The full story
I'm talking about the whole ritual. Spending hours on LimeWire or Kazaa, praying the file wasn't a virus or a mislabeled novelty song. Then meticulously planning the track list in Windows Media Player. You had to get the flow right. A good mix told a story. Then the actual burn... sitting there for what felt like an eternity, terrified the buffer would underrun and you'd have another coaster. And the smell of the laser burning the dye. And then you'd write the track list on the CD itself with a Sharpie in your best handwriting. It was an art form. Making a Spotify playlist takes 30 seconds and has zero soul. It just doesn't mean anything.

What people are saying
@jettyy — I'd make my bf a terrible spotify playlist with mislabeled songs just so he could feel what it was like.
@paigey — Are we sure Spotify playlists have 'zero soul' or is this just nostalgia talking?
@ashlol — A handwritten letter is the only thing that ever meant anything.
@nick — This sounds like a classic case of romanticizing your own struggle.
